Dear Colonel:

I inform you that Major Maradiaga attacked the trenches and more than 30 machos were killed and several of them wounded; and some machos who came to Quilalí were routed and went away. Colonel Estrada attacked them in Buena Vista. He attacked those coming from Telpaneca; so be careful because my chief says that the bombs you have will be enough and greets you and your companions; and trusts that you will do something against the machos. In yesterday's combat we had no casualties thanks to God.
