The Carl P. Eldred Collection contains
66 photographs, 36 of which have captions
written on the back. The most notable and
interesting are those of natives in Condega and
La Fundadora, and those depicting the coffee
farm Darailí, owned by longtime Liberal Moisés
González, strategically located in the middle of
the triangle formed by the towns of Palacagüina,
Condega, and Yalí. Other noteworthy photos
are those of British coffee plantation owner
Carlos Potter; the electric plant at Matagalpa;
and of Marines on the trail.
Photos are clustered
according to theme, starting with
photos of Marines in formation, in camp, and on patrol,
and moving to areas outside of Managua,
including Darailí, La Fundadora, Condega, and
Matagalpa.
