General Manuel Echeverría:
I am sending you this letter with a paper that came to us
from Honduras and I want you to take this opportunity to
write something for that Republic for which I commission
you. I will type our organization so that when it is done it
may be signed by all and be published over there. Make the
answer and let that man know that I have noted in a book
everything that happens in our column from the first day we
rose up in arms and thus everything that our enemies say
against us will be without strength. And if he can, let him
come or any other newspaper man, come and we will give him a
copy.
There are communications that may serve for history and
other things that are impressive, the same as many things
that will make them laugh. I inform you that Moncada has no
power among the humble populace and only the drunkards
accompany him, and Colonel Rivera of Santa Cruz tells me
that many want us to declare our candidacy because all the
populace of the country is with us. We cannot do that now,
but naturally it fills us with satisfaction to have the
populace recognize who is their friend and who is their
enemy.
